Karen Lourdes is the Global Sustainable Sourcing Lead for Sugar & Coconut at Nestle. She leads the global ESG strategies for sugar and coconut sourcing to deliver on Nestle's commitments towards responsible sourcing, human rights, climate and deforestation-free supply chains. Based in the Nestrade Malaysia Procurement Hub, she works closely with Nestle's global procurement team and strategic suppliers. Karen joined Nestle in October 2021, while completing her PhD in Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the University of Nottingham. Her doctoral research focused on modelling biophysical and social ecosystem services in urban areas. Karen is passionate about environmental conservation and has worked with several non-governmental organizations in various capacities, prior to and while undertaking her Master's in Applied Wildlife Conservation. During her leisure time, Karen enjoys gardening, learning new languages and planning her next vacation.
